Disposing of personal documents in the proper manner is essential. There are millions of cases of identity fraud every single year, caused purely by people simply throwing their personal information out with everyday rubbish.
There are a number of ways that you can get rid of your personal information on things like letters, bank statements and even bank cards, but the easiest and most efficient way is to use a shredder. It is simply a matter of placing your paperwork into the machine and letting it destroy the information for you.
Of course, it is important that you make sure that you are buying a high quality shredder. With this in mind, it is always a good idea to read a thorough review to make sure that you are getting good value for your money.
We tested out the Texet CC612N 12L Cross Cut Shredder so that we could give you an honest, non-biased review and here it is.
If you are looking for a compact shredder for use at home, then the Texet CC612N 12L Cross Cut Shredder is a great option to consider. The first thing that we noticed was how small it was, in comparison to many of the other shredders available of this type.
We were able to easily fit it under the desk with no problem at all. One thing that you may find with some shredders is that they are quite heavy and hard to move around, but this wasn’t the case with this one. At just 3.6Kg it is actually relatively light.
The best thing for us about this particular shredder is the cross cutting capabilities that it has. This makes identity theft far less likely, because your documents are not only cut into strips but then cut across too, making reading important information impossible.
Another thing that we liked about the cutting capabilities is that the blades are also able to cut through debit and credit cards, so when you need to dispose of them you don’t have to worry about them falling into the wrong hands. Not many budget shredders like this one will have that capability, so this is a big plus for us.
When we tested out the shredder, we wanted to put it through its paces, so we started off by shredding the recommended maximum 6 documents at one time. We are pleased to report that it had no trouble shredding through them in seconds.
There are a couple of drawbacks that we noticed. To start with, there is the fact that you have to remove all staples before you can shred your documents. This isn’t a big issue, but it does add more time to your workload.
The only other issue that we had was the cool down period. The shredder has a built in feature where it will shut down if it starts to overheat. After 2 minutes of shredding it will usually do this. This isn’t a big problem, but it does take about 30 minutes to cool down properly once it has shut down.
Although there are these two little niggles to report on, it is important to remember that this is a budget shredder and one that is designed for day to day shredding at home. If you want something affordable that will allow you to shred important documents on a daily basis then you really can’t go wrong with the brilliant Texet CC612N 12L Cross Cut Shredder.
