Having a shredder in your office at home is absolutely essential. You need to make sure that all of your personal documents are disposed of in the correct manner and that your personal information such as full name, address, even your date of birth are completely destroyed.
Without making sure that your personal information is completely destroyed, you are at risk of identity theft. This can be absolutely devastating. Not only do you run the risk of fraudsters taking out loans and credit cards in your name, but you could potentially face complete financial ruin.
Fortunately, there is an easy way to completely destroy all of your personal documents and that is to invest in a high quality shredder. However, if you work from home, then one of the features that you are definitely going to need to think about carefully is the noise levels of any shredder that you buy.
The last thing that you want is to be disturbed by the noise that the shredder makes whilst it is in use. In order to help you make an informed buying decision, we have put together our top 3 quietest shredders. We hope that our review will help you make the right choice for you.
Upon taking the shredder out of the box, the first thing that we noticed was that the assembly didn’t take very long at all. Within minutes we were up and ready to go. Starting off, we decided to try one sheet and as expected, it was shredded in a flash.
We then tried the maximum sheets which is 10 A4 pages for this one to see how it would fare. We are happy to report that within seconds again, all of the sheets were completely destroyed and no personal information at all was visible. This is exactly what you want with a shredder like this.
Now, onto the important thing; the noise level. We were really happy about the noise level with this one. As you’d expect, it’s not going to be silent. However, the noise was really low compared to some of the other models that we have reviewed in the past. If you are looking for a shredder with low noise level that is cost effective as well as efficient, then you can’t really go wrong with this one. The only complaint we have is that the cool down period is quite long.
Number 2 on our list is this great shredder from Fellowes. Their Powershred range has been reviewed by us before and we have never been disappointed with their shredders and we weren’t disappointed with this one either. As always with Fellowes, assembly with this shredder was very straightforward and we were ready to shred in minutes.
The first thing that really impressed us with this shredder is the fact that it can shred up to 16 sheets of A4 paper at one time. This is quite a large amount in comparison to most of the other shredders on the market in this price range. As we expected, the shredder itself feels very well built and durable, which is always a good sign.
We were a little worried about the noise levels with this one. We suspected that given it has a lot more power that it would produce large amounts of noise, making it unsuitable for the home office where work needs to be completed. However, this really wasn’t the case. We were actually really pleased with how quiet the machine was.
If you are looking for a mid-range shredder for the home office, then this one is perfect.
Number 1 on our list has to go to this shredder from Bonsaii. We love how modern it feels and how well it performs. Upon setting it up, we were ready to use it within a couple of minutes. The maximum sheets you can shred at any one time with this one is 18 which makes this perfect for using it in an office as well as the home.
There were no issues when we used the maximum sheets and we also tried the CD and credit card function and these were easily shredded too. We thought that the plastics and staples would create a large amount of noise but this really wasn’t the case with this one.
It was relatively quiet, even when we shredded the plastic, which makes this shredder perfect for use in the workplace. If you are looking for a fairly affordable shredder that is durable enough to handle daily usage then this is definitely it.
